PREPARATION FOR THE OBSERVANCE OF PASSOVER
Way/Lev. 23:4-5:
“These are the appointed times of יהוה, set-apart gatherings which you are to proclaim at their appointed times. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, between the evenings, is the Passover to יהוה .”
Deb/Deut. 16:1-2:
“Guard the month of Abib, and perform the Passover to יהוה your Elohim, for in the month of Abib יהוה your Elohim brought you out of Mitsrayim by night. And you shall slaughter the Passover to יהוה your Elohim, from the flock and the herd, in the place where יהוה chooses to put His Name.”
YeshaYahu 53:6: “We all like sheep, went astray, each one of us has turned to his own way. And יהוה has laid on Him the crookedness of us all.”
Because we are but flesh, we can and do go astray. Sometimes we go astray in our thoughts rather than actions. Even in our thoughts we are capable of sinning. It is the advice of evil inclinations that come to us. Many times in certain situations throughout the year, we get off track and listen to the enemy. During these times, we do not keep our commitment to pray every day and read the Scriptures. There are times when we get caught up with our careers and daily plans of this life and actually take a break from YAH, which is very costly.
Observance of the Passover gets us back in good standing with YAH. It is like this parable:
We have a small, silver metal reproduction of a stake with grooves in it, horizontal and vertical, clean and shiny. We put it down for a while, about a year, then pick it up again. The once cleansed silver stake now has black soot in its grooves. After a time of cleansing, the silver stake is back to its original luster.
Meaning of the Parable: The silver stake with the grooves represents the stake where YAHUSHUAH was impaled. Silver is a sign of purification and also redemption. יהושׁה purified us through His impalement. He made atonement for us. Elohim placed all of our sins upon Him, and He was pleased to crush Him. He suffered instead of us. He is our atonement.
We were made pure when we came to know Him and were immersed in His Name. The soot filled into the grooves as we committed unrepentant sins throughout the year. In preparing for observance of Passover, we must remove all unrepentant sins by confronting them and making confessions. The black soot that gathered into the grooves are removed when we repent. Cleansing the sins out of our life restores us to favor in Elohim, and we remain blameless as we wait for YAHUSHUAH.
We observe the Passover and remember that the body of יהושׁה has been broken for us and His blood was shed for us. He is the Passover Lamb Who completes the Passover. In commemorating His death, burial, and resurrection, we observe the Passover in obedience to the Laws of Elohim. We renew our life in Him. In remembrance of the Passover, we also remember that we must repent and receive forgiveness of our sins. Our observance cleanses the dirty soot out of our lives from the past year and purifies us for the New Year. Obedience will bring blessings of Elohim for the New Year. We must never forget the great hand of YAH Who set His people free from Egypt and Who is still setting His people free from spiritual Egypt through belief in Messiah יהושׁה . He is still bringing His People into the Promised Land by sending us His Promised Spirit.
The Four C’s
Confront: Confront yourself. Examine yourself and search deep within your being. Seek out the sins which you have acquired by following the advice received from evil inclinations. Confront your sins, your weaknesses, fears, and shortcomings. Confront all sins of the flesh such as jealousy, envy, anger, etc.
Confess: Confess all of your sins and shortcomings before YAH and one another.
Prayer:
Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has set us apart through YAHUSHUAH our Messiah and has commanded that we repent from all our sins.
“YAHUAH, I believe that I have confessed all of my sins before You. I am an unworthy servant. Please, through your loving-kindness, forgive me. If there remains any sins that did not come to mind or any that I am not aware of—just like the unfound chametz—any hidden sins, please let them be annulled and be removed from my being and be forgiven by the blood of יהושׁה. Thank You יהוה Master of all the world, Creator of the universe, Who through loving-kindness grants us repentance and forgiveness. This we pray in the Name of יהושׁה. So be it.”
Washing with Water
Washing your feet: Take a mikvah (anointed bath) if you haven’t taken one before. (See mikvah instructions on Resources page of our website.) All others: wash your feet in anointed water (water with 7 drops of Pine Oil for Life). Do this the eve of Passover or the day before.
Consider: Consider the life that יהושׁה lived while on this earth. Consider how He was decreased as the Father יהוה was increased. Consider how He did not have a selfish bone in His body even to the point of death. Consider how He was Elohim’s manifestation of love in the earth for all mankind.
After considering the goodness of YAH through the Messiah, now consider your ways: In this past year, did you live a life appreciating YAH through YAHUSHUAH? How much have you praised Him? How often have you let your light shine through the works of the Messiah in your life? Were you the light?
Consider your life to make it better by coming to full repentance. Consider ways to serve YAH, by having a lifestyle of loving-kindness toward others. Be a witness for YAH.
Complete: Be completed in יהושׁה by coming to complete repentance. Be purified, and come to the Passover cleansed from all sins with a renewed heart to serve Him this year. To know that you have been forgiven is to know the love Elohim has for you. He sees the hearts of all mankind and knows us. Let us be diligent to serve Him in all our ways. When we have been purified as silver, then all of the chametz (sin) has been found and burned out of this house of Elohim (our body). Righteousness must be our crown. Praise YAH for forgiveness! Restoration to favor is accomplished when we do our part!
