We are now in Renewed Yerushalayim, in the Reign of YAHUAH!
Welcome!
THE HAGGADAH
History
“And the Messenger of YAHUAH called to Abraham a second time from the heavens, and said, ‘By Myself I have sworn, declares YAHUAH, because you have done this, and have not withheld your son, your only son, that I shall certainly bless you, and I shall certainly increase your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore, and let your seed possess the gate of their enemies. And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.’” (Gen/Ber. 22:15-18)
“And it came to be, when the sun was going down, and a deep sleep fell upon Abram, that see, a frightening great darkness fell upon him. And He said to Abram, ‘Know for certain that your seed are to be sojourners in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them, and they shall afflict them four hundred years. But the nation whom they serve I am going to judge, and afterward let them come out with great possessions.’” (Bere.15:12-14)
Abraham begot Yitshaq (Isaac), the promised seed. Yitshaq had two sons, Ya’aqob (Jacob) and Esau. Ya’aqob was the promised seed. Ya’aqob had twelve sons who became known as the Twelve Tribes of Yisra’el. Out of the twelve sons of Ya’acob, Yoseph (Joseph) was the chosen seed, born to Rachel. Yoseph’s brothers sold him as a slave to Ishmaelite slave traders. He served as a slave in Mitsrayim (Egypt) for approximately fifteen years. Pharaoh later honored Yoseph when Yoseph interpreted his dream and gave good counsel by the Set-Apart Spirit. Pharaoh raised Yoseph to the second position of all Mitsrayim. Through Yoseph, YAHUAH worked salvation for His people from death by famine. Ya’acob and all the tribes came to Yoseph and settled in the land of Goshen. Yet, their hearts were always to return to the Land of Canaan.
The Hebrew people multiplied greatly in Mitsrayim and outnumbered the Mitsrites (Egyptians). All of the Pharaohs who were kind to the Hebrews died. A new Pharaoh arose who had not known Yoseph and placed the Hebrew people into slavery. YAHUAH’s promise to Abraham that His people will go into slavery came to fulfillment. YAHUAH’s promise to bring them out would also come to fulfillment.
After 400 years of slavery, YAHUAH raised up a deliverer within Pharoah’s own household. His name was Mosheh (Moses). Mosheh was born to Hebrew parents; however, his mother placed him in an ark and set him in the river to spare his life from Pharaoh’s decree of death to all newborn Hebrew males. Pharaoh’s daughter drew Mosheh out of the water and raised him as a Mitsrite. Mosheh finally learned of his identity after becoming fully grown. He defended the Hebrew slaves, escaped Pharaoh’s anger, and went into the wilderness for 40 years. In the wilderness, YAHUAH prepared him for an awesome task.
At the time of deliverance, Elohim spoke to Mosheh and identified Himself by His Name יהוה (YAHUAH)—I AM WHO I AM. YAHUAH gave Mosheh instructions to go to the Hebrew slaves and declare His Name to them. He commanded Mosheh to tell Pharaoh to set His people free from bondage. The people had cried out to Elohim because of the oppression the Mitsrites laid upon them. Elohim heard and acted with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm bringing esteem to His name.
YAHUAH did a great and awesome deed when through ten plagues of judgment, Mosheh led His people out of captivity, through the Sea of Reeds, and on to Sinai. The Hebrew slaves came out of slavery with great possessions. YAHUAH fulfilled His promise to Abraham. Elohim spoke to Mosheh telling him to command the people to observe the Passover each year on the 14th day of Abib, for this was the month that He brought His people out of slavery. This is an everlasting law.
In every time period since the Redemption from Mitsrayim, there have been threats to Israel’s existence. Rulers have been raised up in every generation to take Pharaoh’s spiritual role to destroy Israel. We who are grafted into the covenant of Abraham also face threats from the enemy. We must stand with each other in defense of our Hebrew brothers and sisters.
Slavery still exists today but with an invisible taskmaster’s whip. When we turn from Elohim to serve our own desires we become slaves to our passions. If we are slaves, then there is a taskmaster who oppresses and persecutes us.
Elohim raised up another Deliverer, a Prophet of whom YAHUAH spoke to Mosheh: “I shall raise up for them a Prophet like you out of the midst of their brothers. And I shall put My Words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be, the man who does not listen to My Words which He speaks in My Name, I require it of him.” (Deut/Deb.18:18-19; John/Yoh. 3:34, 7:16)
In obedience to our Father YAHUAH to hear Yahushuah, we remember the deliverance of the children of Israel from bondage, but we also hold on to an even greater deliverance—the Messiah Yahushuah, the Son of the Living Elohim, who came to take away the sins of the world! He has become the Passover of YAHUAH, and Him we shall hear and observe. The laws of Mosheh spoke of placing the blood of a lamb on the doorposts and lintel of the believer’s home and to roast and eat the lamb—a lamb for each household. In fulfillment of this, the Messiah Yahushuah is the Lamb of Elohim who was offered for our sins. The promise is to you and your household. When we believe and obey Him, to walk in His way, then His blood is placed on the doorposts of our hearts and the lintel of our minds. We eat the lamb when we eat the flesh of Messiah in commemoration of His body that was broken for us. Now let us bring into remembrance the esteem and greatness of Elohim who set the Hebrew slaves free and Messiah Yahushuah who set all people free. Let us also look forward in expectation to the coming great exodus out of Babylon.
We are commanded to keep the Passover as a law forever!
יהוה spoke to Moshe and Aharon and gave the instructions for the Pesach. He was passing through the land of Mitsrayim (Egypt) at midnight to save His people from the bondage of Pharaoh. The last plague is death; therefore, we must observe this Passover correctly, so that death will pass over us, and we will have life and life beyond measure. יהוה will pass over the houses that have the blood upon it and will not allow the destroyer to enter our homes and smite us (Shem.12:23).
Pesach Has Been Completed Through יהושׁה
יהושׁה is the fulfillment of the Passover. He has become the Pesach, our Passover Lamb. We must hear Him because He is the only One Who fulfills the Scriptures. Through the remembrance of Him, we are set free. Our sins are forgiven and our captivity is turned. We observe Passover as a remembrance of Him and the sacrifice He made for the redemption of our being. He took the iniquities of us all so that He could bear our punishments. Our transgressions upon Him caused the sufferings and punishments. Without יהושׁה, all of Yisrael would be exterminated. For who else could bear it? Not one human being could bear the punishments that were placed upon יהושׁה because all have sinned and fallen short. Observing the Passover reminds us that יהושׁה bore our punishments, and the purification of our beings continues to keep us set-apart unto יהוה.
SEARCH FOR CHAMETZ
Shemoth/Ex. 12:15 -- ‘Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. Indeed on the first day you cause leaven to cease from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that being shall be cut off from Yisra’ĕl.”
Shemoth/Ex. 12:19-20 – ‘For seven days no leaven is to be found in your houses, for if anyone eats what is leavened, that same being shall be cut off from the congregation of Yisra’ĕl, whether sojourner or native of the land. (20) Do not eat that which is leavened – in all your dwellings you are to eat unleavened bread.’
According to tradition, Jews search their homes for chametz (leaven/yeast) the evening before Passover. The home is thoroughly cleaned, and a search for chametz is conducted by candlelight in silence. All chametz is removed from the home in preparation for Passover.
In the Reign of Elohim, with the Promised Set-Apart Spirit, we remove sin from our lives. We first cleanse ourselves of all known and visible sins and repent of them. Then, we silently look into our being, deep in our souls, with prayer and the guidance of the Set-Apart Spirit as the candlelight. We search thoroughly into the dark areas of our lives. While quietly meditating on Messiah Yahushuah as our example, the Set-Apart Spirit will reveal any hidden sins. When He does reveal them, we repent and ask forgiveness.
Before beginning the search and removal of chametz:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has set us apart with His commands and has commanded us concerning the removal of chametz.
May it be Your will, YAHUAH our Elohim and the Elohim of our forefathers, that You enable us to explore and search out our spiritual troubles, which we have acquired by following the advice of evil inclinations; that You enable us to return in complete repentance before You; and may You, in Your abundant kindness have compassion on us. Assist us, O Elohim of our Salvation, for the sake of Your Name’s esteem, and rescue us from transgressing the prohibition of chametz in the slightest degree, this year and every year, for all the days of our lives. So be it. So may it be.
Now, clean your home of all leavened food items. We need not follow any special guidelines, simply place all the items in a box or container and remove them from your home. In doing this, we obey the Scripture to not allow any leaven to be found in our home. Also, this physical act in the natural realm causes us to be more mindful of the spiritual aspects.
BURNING THE CHAMETZ
After we remove all the physical leaven, now focus on the spiritual leaven.
“Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our Passover was offered for us. So then let us observe the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (1 Cor. 5:7-8)
Spend some time in prayer and critically examine your life. Write all your sins down on a sheet of paper. Any chametz (sin) found must be burned by repentance and prayer.
Confess your sins to YAHUAH, ask forgiveness, and repent.
May it be Your will, YAHUAH our Elohim and the Elohim of our forefathers, may You remove all external influences, and the spirit of defilement from the earth; remove all evil inclinations from our beings in the Name of Yahushuah HaMashiach of Natsareth, Son of the Living Elohim. Give us a heart of flesh to serve You with sincerity; may all the forces of the adversary and all evil evaporate like smoke; may the realm of wantonness pass from the earth; and may You remove, in the Spirit of Right-Ruling, all that impede Your Set-Apart Presence; just as You removed Mitsrayim and its idols in those days at this season. In the Name of Yahushuah HaMashiach of Natsareth, Son of the Living Elohim, So be it.
May it be Your will, YAHUAH our Elohim and the Elohim of our forefathers, that You be compassionate with us and rescue us from transgressing the prohibition of chametz (sin, iniquity, and transgression) even in the slightest degree—us, our entire household, and all of Yisra’el—this year and every year, for all the days of our lives. May You enable us to remove evil inclinations from within us forever, all the days of our lives; may You enable us to cleave to You, to Your Torah, and to Your love, and to cleave to good inclinations, the ways of Yahushuah our Master, forever—us, our children, and our children’s children—from now and forever. In the Name of Yahushuah HaMashiach of Natsareth, Son of the Living Elohim, so may it be. So be it.
After prayer, you can physically burn the paper to show that the sin is removed from you. Cleaning the house and burning the paper put our belief into action.
LIGHTING THE MENORAH
We light the Menorah in setting apart the Festival of Passover in the Reign of YAHUAH. Yahushuah is the Light that has come into world. As He is the Light, we His followers are commanded to be light to the world (Matt. 5:14).
Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the Universe, Who has set us apart in Your Word, and given us Yahushuah our Messiah, and commanded us to be light to the world. So be it.
Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the Universe, Who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.
May it be Your will, YAHUAH my Elohim and Elohim of my forefathers, that You show favor to us, to all our relatives, and to all of Yisra’el; and that You grant us and all Yisra’el a good and long life; that You remember us with a beneficent memory and blessing; that You consider us with a consideration of salvation and compassion; that You bless us with great blessings; that You make our households complete; that You cause Your Presence to dwell among us. May we, our children, and our children’s children grow to be wise and understanding, to love YAHUAH and fear Elohim, to be people of truth, set-apart, attached to YAHUAH, to illuminate the world with Torah, the Good News of Yahushuah, and good deeds and with every labor in the service of the Creator. Please, hear our supplication at this time, and cause the Light of Yahushuah our Messiah to shine through us and not be extinguished, and let Your countenance shine so that we are saved. In the Name of Yahushuah HaMashiach of Natsareth, Son of the Living Elohim, So be it.
BARCHU
Leader: Bless YAHUAH, the Blessed One.
Congregation: Blessed is YAHUAH, the Blessed One, forever and ever.
Leader: Blessed, praised, esteemed, exalted and upraised is the Name of the Sovereign Who rules over sovereigns—the Set-Apart One, Blessed is He. For He is the First and He is the Last and aside from Him there is no mighty-one. Extol Him—Who rides the highest heavens—by His Name, YAH, and exult before Him. His Name is exalted beyond every blessing and praise. Blessed be the Name of YAHUAH from this time and forever.
Blessed are You, YAHUAH, our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Whose word brings on evenings. You open the gates of dawn with wisdom, change the day’s divisions with understanding, set the succession of seasons, and arrange stars in the sky according to Your will. May the Living and Enduring Elohim continuously reign over us, forever and ever. Blessed are You, YAHUAH, Who brings on evenings.
SHEMA
With an eternal love have You loved the House of Yisra’el, Your nation. Torah and commands, laws and right-rulings have You taught us. Therefore, YAHUAH our Elohim, when we lie down and when we rise up, we will speak of Your laws and we will rejoice in the words of the study of Your Torah and with Your commands forever and ever. For they are our life and the length of our days; we will meditate on them day and night. May You not remove Your love from us forever. Blessed are You, YAHUAH, Who loves His nation Yisra’el.
Sh’ma Yisra’el: YAHUAH Eloheynu, YAHUAH Echad.
Hear O Israel: YAHUAH our Elohim, YAHUAH is One.
Blessed is the Name of His esteemed sovereignty forever and ever.
“And you shall love YAHUAH your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your might. And these words which I am commanding you today shall be in your heart, and you shall impress them upon your children, and shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up, and shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deb. 6:5-9)
THE SEDER
KADDESH (Setting-Apart)
The recitation of the Kaddesh proclaims the set-apartness of the day. Pour a cup of wine, lift it up, and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH, our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who creates the fruit of the vine.
Blessed are You, YAHUAH, our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has chosen us from all nations, exalted us above all tongues, and set us apart with His commandments. And You, YAHUAH, our Elohim have lovingly given us, appointed times for gladness, festivals and seasons for joy, this Passover, the season of our freedom, a set-apart gathering in memoriam of the Exodus from Mitsrayim, a remembrance of our freedom from the curse of sin through the death of the Messiah Yahushuah, and an expectation of the coming great exodus from Babylon. For You have chosen and set us apart above all peoples, and Your set-apart festivals, in gladness and joy have You granted us a heritage. Blessed are You, YAHUAH, Who sets apart Yisra’el, and the festive seasons.
Blessed are You, YAHUAH, our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.
[Drink the first cup of wine/juice.]
URECHATZ (Washing of hands & feet)
According to tradition, the priest washes his hands before eating the karpas and prior to the meal. We wash our hands to show that the Father cleanses us through the Set-Apart Spirit and by our obedience in following the Messiah. We follow Messiah by keeping His Word to pick up our stake and follow Him, to die to ourselves and serve Him. We wash our feet as Yahushuah washed the feet of His taught-ones (Yoh. 13). Everyone must be cleansed before observing the Passover.
[Everyone washes his feet first and then his hands.]
YACHATZ (Breaking of Matzah)
“On the fourteenth day of the second month, between the evenings, they perform it – with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they eat it” (Num/Bem. 9:11).
The use of Matzah in most Jewish observances of Passover signifies the unleavened bread that the children of Israel brought out of Mitsrayim. The dough did not have time to rise when they left in haste at midnight. Chametz is removed from the home at Passover to commemorate the unleavened bread of the Hebrews. We use matzah in our celebration of the Passover of YAHUAH to commemorate the Messiah Yahushuah our Passover. He was without leaven (sin) and was found blameless. We break matzah in commemoration of His body, which was broken for us.
Leader lifts the matzah that will be used throughout the seder and blesses YAHUAH:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth.
Acquiring the Lamb
To observe this Passover correctly, the lamb must be chosen by the 10th day of Abib (Nissan). The Lamb must be perfect with no defect. We have learned that the Son of Man was sent to be our Pesach. He is the Lamb of Elohim who came to take away the sins of the world. In times past, we did not use the proper lamb; we had a false lamb with blemishes. The false lamb with the wrong spirit has much evil attached. Therefore, the Spirit of Elohim helped us in our search. He brought us to יהושׁה, and we examined Him to see if He indeed is the Son of Elohim, the One who was called. According to Ber/Gen. 3:14-15, the Messiah He had to be the Seed of a woman, and He would be our remedy, redemption for all people. He had to be the Righteous One, free from all sins. The work of the Father YAHUAH concerning our redemption would be His focus. He had to be our Sovereign from the line of David, a Branch from stump of Yishai, as the prophets proclaimed (Yesh/Is. 11:1-4).
Examining the Lamb
Now the Messenger Gabriel's word to Miryam:
Luqas/Luke 1:30-32 – “And the messenger said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Miryam, for you have found favour with Elohim. (31) And see, you shall conceive in your womb, and shall give birth to a Son, and call His Name יהושע e (32) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High. And יהוה Elohim shall give Him the throne of His father Dawiḏ.’”
We have chosen this Lamb, for He is the true Hebrew Messiah and has fulfilled the prophecies concerning Him. His Name is יהושׁה. YeshaYahu/Is. 53 is fulfillment of the calling of Yahushuah.
Over the centuries, many others who were called by another name proclaimed to be the Messiah, but they did not fulfill the Scriptures. We found Yahushuah, and His Name fits the Scriptures. There is no blemish to His Name. Many evils and wrongdoings have been done in the name of j.c. throughout the centuries. J.c. is another one who came in his own name (Yoh.5:43). This one is a lamb with faults and blemishes. We chose the One true Lamb Who came to take away the sins of the world. His Name Yahushuah means just that: YAH is our Salvation. His Name is confirmed by the voice of the Ruach HaQodesh.
Matzah: The Lamb's Body
Yoh/John 6:31-35 –
(31) “Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it has been written, ‘He gave them bread out of the heaven to eat.’ ”
(32) Therefore יהושע said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Mosheh did not give you the bread out of the heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread out of the heaven.
(33) “For the bread of Elohim is He who comes down out of the heaven and gives life to the world.”
(34) So they said to Him, “Master, give us this bread always.”
(35) And יהושע said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall not get hungry at all, and he who believes in Me shall not get thirsty at all.
The Messiah Yahushuah is to be the embodiment of His people. We are a part of Him. He is our Sovereign in us and us in Him. Our sins brought forth punishments which were laid upon Him.
The Leader takes three pieces of matzah. He takes the middle piece of matzah and holds it up. Examine the matzah and view the holes within it. The holes represent the iniquities of all Israel, the people of Elohim. Make sure your matzah is a square (or round) with holes throughout.
Yoh. 6:36-48
(36) “But I said to you that you have seen Me, and still do not believe.
(37) “All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I shall by no means cast out.
(38) “Because I have come down out of the heaven, not to do My own desire, but the desire of Him who sent Me.
(39) “This is the desire of the Father who sent Me, that all He has given Me I should not lose of it, but should raise it in the last day.
(40) “And this is the desire of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him should possess everlasting life. And I shall raise him up in the last day.”
(41) Therefore the Yehuḏim were grumbling against Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down out of the heaven.”
(42) And they said, “Is not this יהושע, the son of Yosĕph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down out of the heaven’?”
(43) Then יהושע answered and said to them, “Do not grumble with one another.
(44) “No one is able to come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. And I shall raise him up in the last day.
(45) “It has been written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by יהוה.’ Everyone, then, who has heard from the Father, and learned, comes to Me.
(46) “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from Elohim – He has seen the Father.
(47) “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me possesses everlasting life.
(48) “I am the bread of life.
Hold up the matzah and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You Yahuah our Elohim Sovereign of the universe, Who has set us apart with Your commandments, and has given to us the Messiah Yahushuah the Pesach Lamb.
The matzah is broken in two, and the smaller piece is placed back between the two whole matzahs. The larger of the two pieces is wrapped and placed aside. This is the Afikomen. The Afikomen in this Seder will be used later to celebrate Messiah’s resurrection. This is a reminder that we are celebrating the Passover of YAHUAH in the Reign of Elohim, and Yahushuah is our Passover.
[Pour the second cup of wine—but do not drink until later.]
MAGGID
A Recount of the Exodus out of Mitsrayim and Messiah’s impalement.
**Read Exodus/Shemoth 12; Mark 15:1-39
**Recount of our Freedom
Lift the second cup of wine/juice and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH, our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who creates the fruit of the vine.
Drink the second cup.
MESSIAH OUR PASSOVER
The Leader lifts the three matzoh (the two whole matzoh with the small broken piece between) and blesses YAHUAH:
MOTZI: “Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth.”
MATZAH: “Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has set us apart with His commandments, and has commanded us concerning the eating of matzah.”
Set the matzah aside for use later.
PREPARING THE LAMB: The Sweet Fragrance
“See, the Lamb of Elohim who takes away the sin of the world!” (John/Yoh. 1:29).
The Messiah Yahushuah is the Lamb of Elohim who came into the world to take away the sins of the world. He was beaten and impaled upon the tree. His blood flowed for our deliverance. “Truly, He has borne our sicknesses and carried our pains. Yet we reckoned Him stricken, smitten by Elohim, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our crookednesses. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (YeshaYahu 53:4,5). He is our Lamb for this household. A Lamb for every household—the promise is that He will save you and your household.
Matt. 26:7-13 – “A woman came to Him, having an alabaster flask of costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table.
(8) And when His taught ones saw it, they were much displeased saying, ‘To what purpose is this waste?
(9) For this perfume could have been sold for much and given to the poor.’
(10) However, when יהושע noticed it, He said to them, ‘Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work toward Me.
(11) For you always have the poor with you, but Me you do not have always.
(12) For in pouring this perfume on My body, she did it for My burial.
(13) Truly, I say to you, wherever this Good News is proclaimed in all the world, what this woman has done shall be spoken of also, to her remembrance.’”
To remember the Messiah's preparation, we smell a sweet fragrance. Take a q-tip and dip it in an alabaster flask of perfume (such as frankincense), and place a drop on the palm of your hand. Smell its sweetness. The anointing of the Messiah was a sweet smell to the Father because He was obedient to the Father’s will to be the greatest sacrifice of all times saving the lives of many. The offering of Himself was a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable offering well-pleasing to Elohim. This Good News of the Messiah is the offering for the poor. We also remember Miryam the sister of El’azar who anointed the Messiah as He was being prepared to die for all.
Smell the sweet fragrance and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You YAHUAH Sovereign of the universe who has set us apart in your word and have given to us the sweet smell of the sacrificial offering of Messiah's preparation, the Lamb prepared for the slaughter.
Yoh/John 6:49-56
(49) “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.
(50) “This is the bread which comes down out of the heaven, so that anyone might eat of it, and not die.
(51) “I am the living bread which came down out of the heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever. And indeed, the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
(52) The Yehuḏim, therefore, were striving with one another, saying, “How is this One able to give us His flesh to eat?”
(53 יהושע therefore said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Aḏam and drink His blood, you possess no life in yourselves.
(54) “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood possesses everlasting life, and I shall raise him up in the last day.
(55) “For My flesh is truly food, and My blood is truly drink.
(56) “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood stays in Me, and I in him.
KARPAS (Dipping of vegetable into salt-water)
Remembrance of His Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Yahushuah prepares to carry out the sacrifice that will open the prison doors for the entire world held in captivity. Yahushuah sets free all those appointed to death: “For He looked down From the height of His set-apart place; From heaven יהוה viewed the earth, To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To release those appointed to death,” (Teh/Ps. 102:19-20). The agony He felt is REAL.
Matt. 26:36-38
(36) Then יהושע came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the taught ones, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
(37) And He took with Him Kĕpha and the two sons of Zaḇdai, and He began to be grieved and deeply distressed.
(38) Then He said to them, “My being is exceedingly grieved, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.
Take the small dish of salt water. The salt water represents the tears Yahushuah shed as His time drew near. He prayed three times in the Garden.
Everyone takes a piece of vegetable (karpas), holds it up, and blesses YAHUAH:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who creates the fruits of the earth.
First Hour – Leader reads:
Matt. 26:38-39
(38) Then He said to them, “My being is exceedingly grieved, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
(39) And going forward a little, He fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I desire, but as You desire.”
Congregation dips their karpas into the salt water and says:
“Yet not as I desire, but as you desire”
Eat the karpas.
Second Hour – Leader reads:
Matt. 26:40-42
(40) And He came to the taught ones and found them asleep, and said to Kĕpha, “So, were you not able to watch with Me one hour?
(41) “Watch and pray, lest you enter into trial. The spirit indeed is eager, but the flesh is weak.”
(42) Again He went away, a second time, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is impossible for this to pass unless I drink it, let Your desire be done.”
Congregation dips their karpas into the salt water and says:
“Let Your desire be done”
Eat the karpas.
Third Hour – Leader reads:
Matt. 26:44 – “And He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.”
Congregation dips their karpas into the salt water and says:
“Let Your desire be done”
Eat the karpas.
To remember the droplets of blood from His intense agony, we make drops of wine.
Leader reads:
Luk. 22:43-44
(43) And there appeared a messenger from heaven to Him, strengthening Him.
(44) And being in agony, He was praying more earnestly. And His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Congregation now removes the salt water and places seven droplets of wine into a separate bottle or container. These seven drops remind us of the agony that Yahushuah endured for our guilt. He was greatly distressed so that we would have no stress.
The apprehension of Yahushuah fulfilled the Scriptures for they arrested Him at evening:
Shem. 12:6 – “And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then all the assembly of the congregation of Yisra’ĕl shall kill it between the evenings.”
Matt. 26:50 – “And יהושע said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on יהושע and seized Him.”
Matt. 26:57 – “And those who had seized יהושע led Him away to Qayapha the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.”
He was examined and found blameless so they sought false witnesses:
Matt. 26:59 – “And the chief priests, and the elders, and all the council were seeking false witness against יהושע to put Him to death,”
He was judged by the High Priest and Congregation:
Matt. 26:63-66 –
(63) But יהושע remained silent. So the high priest said to Him, “I put You to oath, by the living Elohim that You say to us if You are the Messiah, the Son of Elohim.”
(64) יהושע said to him, “You have said it. Besides I say to you, from now you shall see the Son of Aḏam sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of the heaven.”
(65) Then the high priest tore his garments, saying, “He has blasphemed! Why do we need any more witnesses? See, now you have heard His blasphemy!
(66) “What do you think?” And they answering, said, “He is liable to death.”
Yet No Guilt was found—He was blameless and without spot:
Luke 23:4 – “And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, ‘I find no guilt in this Man.’”
Luke 23:13-14 –
(13) “And Pilate, having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
(14) said to them, ‘You brought this Man to me, as one who turns away the people. And look, I have examined Him in your presence and have found no guilt in this Man regarding the charges which you make against Him,’”
Luke 23:21-24 –
(21) But they were calling out, saying, “Impale! Impale Him!”
(22) And he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. Having disciplined Him then, I shall release Him.”
(23) But with loud voices they insisted, asking for Him to be impaled. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests were prevailing.
(24) And Pilate pronounced sentence that what they asked should be done.
Leader takes the smaller piece of broken Matzah (from between the two whole matzoh), lifts it up, and blesses YAHUAH:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe Who has given us a perfect Lamb without spot to be a sacrifice for all mankind. We thank You YAHUAH for Your Son Who was without sin, Yahushuah the Messiah.
Maror And Chazeres:
Maror is the bitter herb that represents the hard labor and the bitterness of slavery of the Hebrew people in Mitsrayim. The bitter herb is eaten with matzah to bring into remembrance the deliverance from slavery and a future redemption.
We eat matzah and maror to remember that the Messiah of Israel took on the punishment of the world when He suffered bitterly before His death. The maror is the bitterness of oppression, and the matzah signifies ‘no leaven’ or ‘no sin.’ When eaten together, we remember that Messiah Yahushuah suffered and died blamelessly. As we remember our Messiah, we also remember the destruction of the Set-Apart Place in Yerushalayim.
“On the fourteenth day of the second month, between the evenings, they perform it – with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they eat it” (Num/Bem. 9:11).
The Slaying of the Lamb Begins
Yahushuah now becomes our scapegoat, and the iniquities of all are laid on Him. He alone bore our punishments.
Leader reads:
Yoh/John 19:1-3 – “Then, therefore, Pilate took יהושע and flogged Him. (2) And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns and placed it on His head, and they put a purple robe on Him, (3) and came to Him and said, ‘Greetings, Sovereign of the Yehuḏim!’ And they slapped Him in the face.”
Leader breaks the matzah that was blessed to remind us of His body being beaten and flogged. Give a small piece to each participant.
Everyone takes a piece of chazeres (bitter herb/romaine), lifts it up, and blesses YAHUAH:
Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has set us apart with His commandments, and has commanded us concerning the eating of Maror.
Take the bitter herb, dip it in salt water, and place it on a piece of the broken matzah. Eat to remember the bitterness of His sufferings from our punishment.
Place seven more drops of wine into the bottle to represent the blood that flowed from Yahushuah’s head and then another seven drops to represent the flogging of His body (a total of 14 drops).
Leader continues to read:
Yoh. 19:7-11 –
(7) The Yehuḏim answered him, “We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, for He has made Himself the Son of Elohim.”
(8) So when Pilate heard this word, he was more afraid,
(9) and went back into the palace, and asked יהושע, “Where are You from?” But יהושע gave him no answer.
(10) Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not speak to me? Do You not know that I possess authority to impale You, and I possess authority to release You?”
(11) יהושע answered, “You would possess no authority against Me if it were not given you from above. Because of this, he who delivered Me to you has greater sin.”
The Impalement
Leader reads:
Yoh. 19:17-19 –
(17) And bearing His stake, He went out to the so-called Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha,
(18) where they impaled Him, and two others with Him, one on this side and one on that side, and יהושע in the middle.
(19) And Pilate wrote a title too, and put it on the stake, and it was written: יהושע OF NATSARETH, THE SOVEREIGN OF THE YEHUDIM.
Congregation now places another seven drops of wine and places them into the bottle to represent the wounds in each of His hands that were pierced (7 drops for each hand). Then place another seven drops for each of His feet that were pierced (7 drops for each foot). (A total of 28 drops added.) All the drops in the bottle represent the blood Yahushuah shed while He was still alive.
Take the chazeres (bitter herb), dip in salt water, and lay on a piece of the broken matzah. Eat for remembrance of the bitterness of His impalement for our sin.
His possessions were stolen, and they cast lots for them:
Yoh. 19:24 – “So they said to each other, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it – whose it shall be,’ in order that the Scripture might be filled which says, ‘They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.’ The soldiers therefore indeed did this.”
KORECH
Charoses: The sweet mixture of apples, nuts, fruits, spices, and cinnamon mixed with red wine. This mixture symbolizes the mortar and brick of the hard labor of slavery in Mitsrayim. It also symbolizes the sweetness of deliverance of the people of this world from death. This deliverance was accomplished through the sufferings (bitterness) of our Messiah Yahushuah who took the sins of the world upon His shoulders. His blood (red wine) delivered us all from the slavery of sin. When we accept and believe in Him as the Son of Elohim who came from Elohim, our deliverance is sweet.
The Lamb is Slain
Shem/Ex.12:6-9 is fulfilled –
(6) ‘And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then all the assembly of the congregation of Yisra’ĕl shall kill it between the evenings.
(7) ‘And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.
(8) ‘And they shall eat the flesh on that night, roasted in fire – with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
(9) ‘Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire, its head with its legs and its inward parts.'
Yahushuah drank the sour wine – the bitterness of His sufferings and His Death.
Yoh. 19:29-30
(29) A bowl of sour wine stood there, and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and held it to His mouth.
(30) So when יהושע took the sour wine He said, “It has been accomplished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Death came to the Lamb of Elohim who came to take away the sins of the world.
Leader takes the bottom of the three matzoh and gives each participant a piece.
Everyone takes a piece of matzah and makes a sandwich with maror (bitter herb/ horseradish) and charoset. Eat to remember the bitterness of Yahushuah’s death and the sweetness of His obedience to bring life and deliverance to all mankind.
Yahushuah was pierced for our iniquities—the Blood of the Renewed Covenant, our Purification.
Yoh. 19:34-37 –
(34) But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and instantly blood and water came out.
(35) And he who has seen has witnessed, and his witness is true. And he knows that he is speaking the truth, in order that you might believe.
(36) For this took place in order for the Scripture to be filled: “Not one of His bones shall be broken.”
(37) And again another Scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they pierced.”
Place seven drops into the Cup of Commemoration of the Renewed Covenant (NOT the bottle that was used previously). This cup will be used for Commemoration in remembrance of the blood that was shed for all mankind. Place this cup aside for the Commemoration later.
Pour the cup of Purification (the third cup of wine/juice).
Yahushuah’s death has brought us deliverance! He drank the sour cup of death so that we can drink the sweet cup of life. He tasted death so that we can taste life. He suffered so that we His followers will be healthy and at peace. He lost His possessions so that we will be prosperous and wealthy. He was taken captive and imprisoned so that we would be set free. He was judged so we will escape the judgment. His death is the purification of our lives.
Lift the cup and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH, our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who creates the fruit of the vine.
[Drink the third cup of wine.]
The Lamb Removed
Leader reads:
Yoh. 19:38-40 –
(38) And after this, Yosĕph of Ramathayim, being a taught one of יהושע, but secretly, for fear of the Yehudim, asked Pilate that he might take the body of יהושע, and Pilate gave permission. Therefore he came and took the body of יהושע.
(39) And Nakdimon, who at first came to יהושע by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
(40) Then they took the body of יהושע, and bound it in linen wrappings with the spices, as was the habit of the Yehudim for burial.
Perfume at His Burial
Yahushuah made an offering well-pleasing to Father in that He laid down His life for His friends and for all people. This is everlasting life: that we believe in the Only Begotten of YAHUAH, that He died for us and was raised on the third day.
Leader now takes the piece of matzah that was wrapped earlier and places a droplet of perfume (myrrh and aloes) on the napkin to bring to remembrance the sweetness of His sacrifice. Lift it up and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has given us Yahushuah our Messiah, the Dwelling Place that was destroyed for all mankind, buried, and raised on the third day.
Smell the sweet smell of His sacrifice. Put this aside until the 17th of Abib in remembrance of His resurrection.
SHULCHAN ORECH—THE FESTIVE MEAL
The blessing before the meal:
Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe who gives bountifully foods to eat, that nourish our bodies that we may serve You.
BARECH (Grace After Meal)
Recite Tehillim 134:
Come, bless YAHUAH, all you servants of YAHUAH,
who are standing in the House of YAHUAH by night!
Lift up your hands in the set-apart place, and bless YAHUAH.
YAHUAH, Maker of the heavens and earth, does bless you from Tsiyon!
The men in the group come together and recite:
Leader: Gentlemen let us bless.
Group: Blessed is the Name of YAHUAH from this moment and forever!
Leader: Blessed is the Name from this moment and forever!
Group: Blessed is He our Elohim of Whose we have eaten and through Whose goodness we live.
Leader: Blessed is He our Elohim of Whose we have eaten and through Whose goodness we live.

Blessed are You, YAHUAH, our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who nourishes the entire world; in His goodness, with favor, with lovingkindness, and with compassion. He gives nourishment to all flesh, for His lovingkindness is everlasting. And through His great goodness nourishment was never lacking to us and may it never be lacking to us forever. For the sake of His Great Name, because He is the Elohim Who nourishes and sustains all, and benefits all, and He prepares food for all of His creatures which He has created. Blessed are You, YAHUAH, Who nourishes all.
Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, the Almighty, our Father, our Sovereign, our Master, our Creator, our Redeemer, our Maker, our Set-Apart One, the Set-Apart One of Ya’aqob, our Shepherd, the Shepherd of Yisra’el, the Sovereign Who is good and Who does good for all. For every single day He did good, He does good, and He will do good to us. He was bountiful with us, He is bountiful with us, and He will forever be bountiful with us—with favor and with kindness and with compassion, with relief, salvation, success, blessing, help, consolation, sustenance, support, life, peace, and all good; and of all good things may He never deprive us. In the Name of Yahushuah HaMashiach of Natsareth, Son of the Living Elohim, So be it.
The Compassionate One! May He reign over us forever. The Compassionate One! May He be blessed in heaven and on earth. The Compassionate One! May He be praised throughout all generations, may He be esteemed through us forever to the ultimate ends, and be honored through us forever and ever. The Compassionate One! May He sustain us in honor. The Compassionate One! May He send us abundant blessing to this house and upon this table at which we have eaten. The Compassionate One! May He bless us, our family, ours, and all that is ours—just as our forefathers Abraham, Yitshaq, and Ya’aqob were blessed in everything, from everything, with everything. So may He bless us all together with a perfect blessing. In the Name of Yahushuah HaMashiach of Natsareth, Son of the Living Elohim, So be it.
COMMEMORATION OF THE MESSIAH YAHUSHUAH—OUR PASSOVER
The Blessing of Messiah:
Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has given us the way of salvation in Messiah Yahushuah.
The Blessing for the Commemoration:
“Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has set us apart in Your word and has given us Yahushuah our Messiah and He has commanded us to commemorate Him at Passover.”
Leader takes matzoh that has been set aside specially for the Commemoration. Lift it up and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the Earth.
“And as they were eating, Yahushuah took bread, having blessed, broke it, gave it to them and said, ‘Take, eat, this is My body’” (Mark 14:22).
Leader takes the Cup of Commemoration. This cup has been set aside specially for Commemoration. Take the cup and bless YAHUAH:
Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the Universe, Who creates fruit from the vine.
Leader then takes this cup and pours a small amount into the cups of each participant. The small amount will be added to the seven drops they placed in their Cup of Commemoration earlier.
“And taking the cup, giving thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, ‘This is My blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many.” (Mark 14:23)
“For I received from the Master that which I also delivered to you: that the Master Yahushuah in the night in which He was delivered up took bread, and having given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat, this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the renewed covenant in My blood. As often as you drink it, do this in remembrance of Me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Master until He comes.” (1Cor. 11:23-26)
Bless YAHUAH with thanksgiving by reading Tehillim 96.
** Take the bottle of shed blood (with all the drops of wine) and apply it to the doorposts and lintels of your homes to commemorate Yahushuah our Passover Lamb fulfilling Shem. 12:7. We must not sin because Yahushuah did not die in vain.
