CHANUKAH—8 DAY GUIDE

For a Printable Guide in Document format click HERE

We will observe Chanukah for 8 days/nights. Though we are not commanded to have a nine-candle lamp (Chanukiah), it can be used at this time to remember the 8-day dedication. If you are unable to obtain a Chanukiah, you may light any candle each night for 8 nights.
If you have not already prayed the Prayer of Dedication—with a sincere heart—then do that first, before beginning to celebrate the Set-Apart Chanukah.

FOR EACH NIGHT OF CHANUKAH:

1)      First, arrange the candle(s).

2)      Recite the Candle Lighting Blessings:
a.       Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has set us apart in Your Word and given us Yahushuah our Messiah and commanded us to be light to the world. So be it.
b.      Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who performed miracles for our ancestors in those days at this time of year.
c.       (on first night only) Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.

3)      Light the Candles
If you have a Chanukiah, first light the Shamash/Helper candle (the 9th candle). Then, use the Shamash to light the other candle(s), starting from the left and moving to the right.

4)      Recite Prayer After Candle Lighting:
These candles that we light today are for the miracles and wonders, the deliverances and the battles, which You performed for our ancestors, in those days, at this time of year through the deeds of Your priests (the Maccabees). All eight days of Chanukah, we shall thank and praise Your mighty Name YAHUAH, for Your miracles, Your deliverance, and Your wonders.

5)      Recite the Blessing for the Day (below)
These blessings are taken from the Words to the seven assemblies in Revelation 2 & 3.

6)      Daily Readings (below)
A portion from Numbers/Bemidbar 7 about the dedication of the Tabernacle is read each day. Also, a portion of the Songs of Ascents (Psalm/Tehillim 120-134) is read. These 15 chapters are said to correspond to the 15 steps leading up to the House of Elohim that Solomon built.

7)      Closing Prayer (below)

CLOSING PRAYER:
This day and every day for eight days, we will remember our Messiah Yahushuah, our High Priest, the Living Word and the Light that has come into the world. We will give praise and esteem to Your Name YAH and give thanks for our Messiah Who lives in us and walks among us, and Who has made us kings and priests unto You. We thank You YAH for building us as Your House, and we thank You for the Set-Apart Spirit Who guides us in the work of Your House that we may serve at Your altar. May You give us Your strength, Your direction, and Your guidance to please You always in righteousness, kindness, and compassion. Help us YAH to love You with all our heart, all our being, and all our might, and help us to love one another as ourselves. Help us to love as You have loved us. In Yahushuah’s Set-Apart Name, we give you praise and thanksgiving, so be it, so be it. HalleluYAH!
