WEEKLY SABBATH READINGS>
YOM KIPPUR & SHABBAT 9/26/09
September 24, 2009
SHABBAT SHALOM!
** Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) begins at sundown 9/27/09 and ends 9/28/09 at sundown. This day is a Sabbath.
We now have the Yom Kippur materials on our website. See the page entitled "YOM KIPPUR-2009" for a lesson on observing Yom Kippur in the Reign of Elohim.
We also have TWO prayer guides for observing the Day of Atonement. One is for BEGINNERS--those who have never observed Yom Kippur before. This is the guide we've been using for the past few years, and it has a longer section of confessing sins. This is good for those who have never gone through a Yom Kippur observance before and are new in Messiah YAHUSHUAH. After praying these prayers, then commit to living a life without sin, for His blood atonement is precious.
We only need to go through these full Yom Kippur prayers once. We do not need to confess sins year after year as if we were not atoned for previously. So, for those who observed Yom Kippur last year with the knowledge of Messiah YAHUSHUAH, then there is a second prayer guide--Yom Kippur in the Reign of Elohim. The confessing sins portion is shortened because if we confessed last year (and did not return to them throughout the year) then we should no longer call those sins to remembrance. Our observance now changes focus from a remembrance of sins to a remembrance of the atonement of Messiah YAHUSHUAH, the offering of His life that He made for us. His blood covered our sins, granting us atonement, and we now live without sin. We will REJOICE because we remember the atonement YAHUSHUAH has granted us! Through the compassion of Elohim, we are forgiven!
We will fast on Yom Kippur as the Scripture says to afflict our beings. We will fast mainly for OTHERS. We will fast and pray for others to come to the knowledge of YAHUAH Elohim and receive atonement for their beings. The fast begins sundown 9/27 and ends at sundown 9/28. May the Set-Apart Spirit guide you in your fast & Remember--this is a fast of JOY! Tsom Kal--(May you have) an easy fast!
G'mar chatimah tovah! May you be sealed for a good year! Shabbat Shalom!

SUKKAH! SUKKAH!
Sukkot is coming quickly! It's next week already! Building a sukkah (booth) is a fun way to observe this Festival. In NehemYah 8, when the returning exiles observed Sukkot, they all built sukkahs--in their courtyards, on their roofs, and in the open spaces. If you've got some space--try building a small sukkah. You'll be observing Scripture with the added bonus of fun for you and your family. You can find simple plans on the internet or just ask us if you'd like a few suggestions. You'll be amazed at the joy a simple sukkah can bring!
