SHABBAT SHALOM!

We're gearing up for our spring Festival Season!
We're looking forward now to Pesach (Passover) and Chag Hamatzot (Festival of Unleavened Bread). This weekend, we begin our very important preparation period.

First, we have Shabbat Shekalim. This is the first of 4 special Sabbaths leading up to Passover. Shabbat Shekalim is the Sabbath that comes right before Rosh Chodesh of the 12th month. The Torah reading corresponding to this special Sabbath is Shemoth(Ex) 30:11-16. It speaks of the half-shekel contribution (machatzit hashekel) that everyone in Yisrael was required to give to YAHUAH. The half-shekel was a small amount that all could afford--the rich did not give more and the poor did not give less. No one person was counted alone for he gave only a half. The entire congregation of Yisrael came together as ONE to give to YAHUAH. The contribution was used for the maintenance and upkeep of the Set-Apart Place and also to purchase animals for offerings. All of Yisrael together supported the House of YAHUAH. This call for oneness in the congregation (Assembly) is still true today. The people are commanded to support the House of YAHUAH. We do not know how many places around the world are established as a Place for His Name (Deb. 12), but we know that YAHUAH has established this place. On Shabbat Shekalim--this Shabbat--the announcement is made to all Yisrael to give their half-shekel contribution to the House of YAHUAH. The contributions are brought throughout the twelfth month, up until Rosh Chodesh Abib (the first month).

This weekend, we also observe Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of the 12th month, the last month of the year. Rosh Chodesh begins 2/14 at sundown. The 12th month is a month of JOY! In this month, we observe Purim. Purim is when we remember the mighty acts that YAHUAH has done in delivering His people. We remember His great works of deliverance in the book of Ester and throughout the ages. This is a month of joy as we remember all the good things YAH has done for us, all the good things He's done for His people. We are beginning a month of Joy! No more distresses, no more fears and worries, YAHUSHUAH has brought deliverance! It is time to rejoice and look forward to Passover! Welcome this month as a change from our former days into days of rejoicing and gladness! Make up your mind to rejoice and be glad in YAHUAH!

"Be glad in YAHUAH and exult, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!" (Teh 32:11)

"Elohim arises, His enemies are scattered. And those who hate Him flee before Him! As smoke is driven away, You drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, The wrong perish before Elohim. But the righteous are glad, They exult before Elohim. And they rejoice with gladness. Sing to Elohim, sing praises to His Name. Raise up a highway for Him Who rides through the deserts, By His Name YAH, And exult before Him." (Teh 68:1-4)

"I praise You, O YAHUAH, with all my heart; I declare all Your wonders. I rejoice and exult in You; I sing praise to Your Name, O Most High. When my enemies turn back, They stumble and perish before You. For You executed my right and my cause, You sat on the throne judging in righteousness." (Teh 9:1-4)

"This is the day YAHUAH has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it. " (Teh 118:24)

BLESSING OF THE NEW MONTH:

Blessed are You, YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, Who has kept us in life, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this season.

May it be Your will, YAHUAH our Elohim and the Elohim of our forefathers, that You inaugurate this month upon us for goodness and for blessing. May You give us long life—a life of peace, a life of goodness, a life of blessing, a life of sustenance, a life of physical health, a life in which there is fear of heaven and fear of sin, a life in which there is no shame nor humiliation, a life of wealth and respect, a life in which we have a love of YAHUSHUAH and fear of ELOHIM, a life in which YAHUAH fulfills our heartfelt requests for the good.

So be it. Selah.

YAHUAH, He Who performed miracles for our forefathers and redeemed them from slavery to freedom, He Who sent His Son Yahushuah to redeem us from the slavery of sin and falsehood—may He redeem us soon and gather in our dispersed from the four corners of the earth; all of Yisrael, becoming brothers. So be it.

"The new month, the 12th month, is on this first day of the Sabbath, which is upon us and all Yisra’el for goodness."

May YAHUAH, the Set-Apart One, blessed is He, renew it upon us and upon all His people, the Family of Yisra’el, for goodness and for blessing, for joy and for gladness, for deliverance and for comfort, for good sustenance and for support, for good life and for peace, for good report and for good news, for rains in their proper time, for complete recovery, and for early redemption. So be it.

COMMEMORATION OF THE RENEWED COVENANT

The past month or so, we've been learning and going through the Renewed Covenant. This is a VERY IMPORTANT step in our spiritual growth in YAHUSHUAH. We have the lesson written on our website, and we also have the Shabbat Services on DVD. The lessons on dvd go through the Renewed Covenant more in depth and also lead you through entering the Covenant and taking Commemoration step-by-step as the congregation here went through it. We are also packaging Commemoration (bread and 'wine') for entering the Renewed Covenant. If you would like the dvd's and the Commemoration, email us, and we'll ship it to you so you too can take this important step in your spiritual journey. Then, on Passover, we can truly 'remember' the Renewed Covenant.

DAILY TORAH READINGS

On our Resources page, we've added a Daily Torah Readings chart for Bereshith. This coming week, starting 2/14, we'll begin Week 5, "Chayei Sarah--Sarah's Life." Each day covers one small portion of Torah that focuses on one topic--a perfect-sized selection for daily study. More readings for Shemoth, Bemidbar, etc, will be added later, and at the end of 1 year, we'll have read all of the Torah! Praise YAH!

"Blessed are You YAHUAH our Elohim, Sovereign of the universe, for Your word is good and food for my being."

May YAHUAH bless you this Seventh Day with peace and rest, and may He pour out His goodness upon you and your household this Day and in the coming week for gladness and rejoicing, in the Name of our Sovereign Messiah YAHUSHUAH, Master of Peace and Healer of our beings, so be it, so be it.
