SABBATH READINGS 5/8/10
May 6, 2010
Praise YAH, for YAHUAH is good; Sing praises to His Name, for it is pleasant. (Teh/Ps. 135:3)
Shabbat Shalom!
Strength and joy to you in the Name of YAHUSHUAH!
We are continuing our preparation for Shavuot--the Festival of Weeks. We say 'continuing' because we've been preparing for this Set-Apart Day since Pesach (Passover). The whole time of Counting the Omer is preparation for Shavuot. YAH is cleansing us and removing all sediments and blemishes from our being. We repented and removed sin from our lives and now YAHUAH is helping us finish the job. Situations we've faced and the knowledge gained in our studies and revelations from His Spirit have all been a part of His 'sifting' process--to remove the undesirable material so just the clean and pure remain. When Shavuot arrives, we will be ready. Visit our 'Festival Studies' page on our website for a few lessons on Shavuot. (http://www.familyofmessiah.net/festivalstudies.html)
Though Shavuot is only one day it is still just as important as the week-long festivals of Pesach & Sukkot. We've already been working on the spiritual preparation, now we can add the natural preparations. This is a Festival to YAHUAH and we should treat it as such. First, it's a day of rest. So arrange for that day off from work. Next, prepare your worship. If you will join us here in Summerville, SC contact us for help in travel arrangements. If you're unable to join us, then visit our web Resources page for a Prayer Guide. We will be updating/adding to these Resources in the coming week. Also, on Shavuot we're required to bring an offering. So prepare your best for He is truly worthy. Then, finally, prepare your home. Clean, decorate, plan a festive meal for your family. Make it a true Festival--a day to rejoice in YAHUAH.
"Be glad in YAHUAH and exult, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!" (Teh/Ps. 32:11) ********************************************** Putting the SHEMA into Practice
This week, we've been putting the First and Greatest Commandment into action. Deb/Deut. 6:4-9 -- (4) “Hear, O Yisra’el: YAHUAH our Elohim, YAHUAH is one! (5) “And you shall love YAHUAH your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your might. (6) “And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be in your heart, (7) and you shall impress them upon your children, and shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up, (8) and shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. (9) “And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
As many times as we can remember during the day, we recite "I love YAHUAH my Elohim with all my heart and with all my being and with all my might." When we're sitting down, we say it. When we're on our way somewhere, we say it. When we lie down and when we get up, we say, "I love YAHUAH my Elohim with all my heart and with all my being and with all my might." That's following the command to let these words (Deb. 6:4) be in our heart and to speak of them always. This helps us to be mindful of Elohim at all times, to know and realize that He is with us at every moment of our day. Keeping the love of YAHUAH at the forefront of our minds and always speaking it will birth and increase our love for Abba YAHUAH. Just a simple thing to put into practice to draw us closer to our Father.
"I love YAHUAH my Elohim with all my heart and with all my being and with all my might."
